Pricing Recommendation

The following is a guideline to help you decide how much you want to charge for your sessions if you are not sure where to start, and for prospective clients to see approximately how much their private tutoring is going to cost.

We would like to emphasise that these are only guidelines, and that tutors may choose whatever price they would like to charge based on their qualifications, credentials and any experience they might also have. These figures also do not take any account of past teaching experience, feedback or having Elite Student Tutor Status. Finally, you may like to take time spent travelling to and from the tutee’s home into consideration.

As a tutor we recommend that you orientate yourself on these guidelines if you have no or little tutoring experience and are not getting any enquiries from prospective clients:

Start = £9.00

Tuition for Academic subjects:

Teaching GCSE and your associated A level qualifications are:

C = +£0.00

B = +£1.00

A = +£2.00

Teaching A level and your assocaited A level qualifications are:

C = +£1.00

B = +£2.50

A = +£4.00

Core subjects (Maths, English, Science) = + £1

(Example. You have an A grade in Mathematics A level, teaching GCSE Maths. We recommend you charge £9 + £2 + £1 = £12 per hour)

Language Tuition:

Beginner (Starters) = +£1.00

Intermediate (Basic) = +£2.00

Advanced (Fluent) = +£3.50

Expert (Mastery) = +£5.00

(Example. You are teaching Spanish at advanced level. We recommend you charge £9 + £3.50 = £12.50 per hour)

Music Tuition:

Casual = +£1.00

Beginners (Equivalent of Grade 1 & 2) = +£1.00

Intermediate (Equivalent of Grade 3 & 4) = +£2.00

Advanced (Equivalent of Grade 5 & 6) = +£3.50

Expert (Equivalent of Grade 7 & 8 ) = +£5.00

(Example. You are giving casual guitar lessons.  We recommend you charge £9 + £1.00 = £10.00 per hour)
